Through these approaches, he works with clients to understand themselves better and become aware of underlying issues. He pulls from goal-oriented interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). These interventions can be helpful with identity, academic, relationship, vocational, or anger concerns; anxiety or depression; and perfectionism or obsessive/compulsive behavior.
Alvin is a fourth-year PhD student in clinical psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy. His research interests are in perfectionism, grit, resilience, failure, and achievement experiences. He loves going to the gym to work out, making music as a form of self-care and de-stressing, and nature, especially in the early spring.
